Hornets 0-1 Christleton New Scene

The team produced a terrific display in very difficulty conditions against a
well drilled and determined Christleton side. Christleton enjoyed a slightly
better start to the game and put a lot of pressure on our defence and
keeper. Will, Adam and Jamie produced some great cover tackles but it was
Olly who was a colossus at the back. Whatever Christleton tried Olly stood
firm and repelled each attack.

The Hornets upped their game in the second quarter and had by far the better
of the play with Rob and James A providing some quality passes for James H
and Mike but unfortunately they were denied by some great goalkeeping.

Into the second half and there remained very little between the sides. Dan
was extremely strong in defence and midfield and made some great runs with
the ball. The game appeared to be heading for a draw after the Christleton
keeper pulled off another great save only for Christleton to quickly counter
attack. The midfield and defence were a little out of position and Jamie had
no chance with two Christleton forwards through on goal.

Despite going a goal down the team remained resolute and determined and
continued to push for an equaliser. This left some holes in the defence but
Olly and Jamie thwarted further Christleton efforts. There was never going
to be much between the sides and on another day the Hornets could easily
have run out the winners.
