across the border and were impressed by the quality of the pitch. The
Hornets were reduced to a skeleton squad due to suspensions, holidays and
injuries and it was a very makeshift side that lined up. Will started in
goal and made some great saves to keep the Hornets in the game. Mike was
everywhere on the pitch and linked well with James H,Rob and Joe to go close
on a couple of occasions. James H shot just over the bar.Dan V and James A
despite there preference to play elsewhere performed well in defence.
The Hornets were unlucky not to be in front by half time and went in 0-0 at
halftime. In the second half Will came out of goal and into midfield with
James H (aka David James!) reverting to goal. Nomads with home advantage and
being used to the conditions were the more confident side in the second half
and took an early lead. Some indecision between the defence and James H lead
to the second Nomads goal. Undaunted the Hornets worked hard to get back
into the game and were unlucky not to score. Joe put in some great tackles
and showed some really good touches up front linking well with Mike. The
Hornets pushing forward left the defence exposed and Nomads exploited a 4 on
1 position to score a well worked third. The Hornets rallied well and Mike
scored a consolation goal with a terrific shot from about 12 metres out
which gave the Nomads keeper no chance.
A great experience for the boys who all played really well.
